There will only be a short downtime between the swit When we build your new WodSite we do so on our own servers (eg: www.wodsites.co/yourgym/) so as to not interfere with your current website at all. Once your site is finished and your domain (www.yourgym.com) is redirected to your new WodSite the only downtime is the time it takes for your domain settings to propagate online. This can be as short as 10 minutes or up to 24hrs. This is dependent on your domain registrar.
Will there be any down time during the switch to your service?
What will happen to my old website if I sign up to WodSites?
When we build your new WodSite we do so on our own server. This will not interfere with your current website at all. Once your new WodSite is complete we will ask your permission to change your Domain Name Settings to redirect your domain name (www.yourgym.com) to your new WodSite. When these are changed you need only wait a few hours (depending on your domain name registrar) then your old site will no longer appear at your domain name – instead your new WodSite will appear. Your old website will still be on your existing hosting account and will remain untouched by us. We recommend taking a backup of this site before closing down your hosting with that company should you ever have need of it.
Why is your price in US dollars?
WodSites is committed to being the best provider of websites for the CrossFit and fitness communities on the planet. Yes we are an Australian company but we trade in US dollars as this services the largest number of our customers.
How do I find the RSS feed on my blog?
Your RSS feed is available at www.yourdomain.com/feed/
Does my WodSites subscription include email hosting?
No, your monthly subscription to WodSites does not include any email hosting. We don’t believe that traditional email hosting is the best service for businesses as it can often be temperamental. For this reason we do not offer traditional email hosting. Instead we offer Google Apps set ups through our Google partner. Google Apps For Work brings you the power of the cloud, with access to over 150 premium apps and the very best customer support. Click here for more information on our Google Apps For Work product. If you are not interested in this kind of email set up and would prefer a traditional email host then we recommend you set your own email hosting up with your domain registrar. They can look after your email and domain name registration and simply point your DNS settings to WodSites to host your website.
Does my WodSites subscription cover hosting?
Yes. Your monthly subscription with WodSites covers all your hosting expenses. You will not require any additional hosting plans from other companies. All you will need to supply is a domain name.
If I change to WodSites will it effect my Google rankings?
We know how important your SEO is to your business. It is true that changing your website can have a negative effect on your Google ranking, however, there are several things that we do to avoid this and set you up so that your site will perform much better in the long term. If your current site is performing really well on search engines at the moment we recommend you sign up for a custom site build with WodSites rather than a standard template build. This will allow us to mimic your existing page permalinks (eg: www.yourgym.com.au/what-is-crossfit/) and use 301 redirects to redirect the traffic associated with your old website to your new site.
Aside from setting up your site like this during the build all our WodSites also come with access to Infinite SEO, MOZ integration and SEO training videos to give you the tools you need to continue to optimize your site and boost your online traffic.
If I change domain names for my new WodSite will it effect my Google Rankings?
If you decide to use a fresh domain name on your WodSite rather than keeping your existing domain name, then yes, this will effect your search engine rankings since the search engine will have been until now indexing the existing domain. However, you can minimise the negative effects of changing domain names by using 301 redirects to point your old domain name traffic to your new WodSite. A great guide on 301 redirects is found HERE. We recommend keeping your old website live until your new WodSite is live with the fresh domain name. Then contact your domain registrar (where you purchased your domain name from) to redirect your old domain name to your fresh domain and use 301 redirects to direct any traffic from your old website to your new WodSite.
